Liftig and I is an hour of experimental dance television brought to life by those frequent artistic compatriots, conversationalists and co-conspirators, Tess Dworman and Anya Liftig. The performance space of CPR is transformed into a live television studio minus cameras, lights, tripods and applause signs. (It goes without saying that highly paid on-air “talent” is also dispensed with in this show.) Exploring the choreographic potential of the absurdities of facial gestures, multiple limbs, hybrid species and legendary avant-garde performance artists, Liftig and I takes its cues from such diverse sources as Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, the lesser works of Tennessee Williams, D.A. Pennebaker’s documentary Town Bloody Hall, Marvel Comics and the place where everybody knows your name,Cheers.
