Puppet performance artists Maiko KiKuchi and Rowan Magee share an evening of contemporary performance. Maiko will lead viewers on a crazy day dream of childhood tongue twisters brought to life in a surreal 2D and 3D narrative. This is her way of reimagining and accessing a childhood culture and ritual through words she is still trying to wrap her tongue around.  Using found objects and found text Rowan Magee explores narratives of labor, family and legal invisibility. His latest project is a theatrical staging of a Chinese Takeout restaurant, mixing marionettes and human characters to pay homage to the most popular fast food in America, and the people who make it.

New Voices in Live Performance (NViLP) is a core program of CPR’s presenting series that showcases emerging voices in live performance and promotes awareness and appreciation of contemporary experimental work. As part of the program well-established and emerging voices in the dance community are invited to curate a series of events that include performances, lectures, panel discussions and other activities all open to the public.
