VALLETO Dance Company presents #VOIDS

#VOIDS season explores the route of a human’s constant desire to fill an empty space within their selves. It revolves around the natural and unexpected feeling of emptiness. Depicted in the theatrical and abstract performance, #VOIDS travels around experiences that arise when attempting to fill an inner-soul void with temporary things like sex, money, fashion and unattainable relationships.

VALLETO arrives in its second season and premiers #VOIDS on May 9th at CPR Center for Performance Research in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The New York-based company, led by Valeria Gonzalez, investigates and conveys deep feelings of the conscious and unconscious being through intense and continuous physical movement.

#VOIDS explores the root of humans’ constant desire to fill an empty space within themselves. It revolves around the natural feeling of emptiness. Depicted in the theatrical and abstract performance, #VOIDS travels around the encounters that arise when attempting to fill an inner-soul void.  The show reflects abstract and sarcastic representation of behaviors that develop in different surroundings that involve money, fashion and unattainable relationships. And we ask – what is this nothingness and why do we seek to fill it with meaningless objects and behaviors that leave us detached from our true self? What is our true self? The performance identifies the direct correlation between the unique language of a soul and society’s cultural confines.
