CPR’s New Voices in Live Performance series presents “Not Not: Back-to-School with Women & Performance: a journal of feminist theory on September 12, 2015, curated by Joshua Lubin-Levy. Women & Performance invites you to celebrate the start of the Fall Semester, as well as our recent and upcoming special issues, at an event featuring live performance, a reading room and refreshments. Women & Performance is committed to expanding the boundaries of scholarship to include experimental and artist-driven work.  Along these lines we have invited three artists to contribute works that hover between artistic practice and scholarship, a series of (not) not performances by Effie Bowen and Mariana Valencia, and a lecture-demonstration by Jack Ferver featuring his students, Savannah-Lyons Anthony and Trevor Joseph Newton. Each artist will present 30 minutes of performative material from their ongoing research, works in progress or teaching. NOT NOT will also feature a public reading room with free printouts of journal articles, and a series of artist video submissions, co-curated by Neal Medlyn, including work by Amber Hawk Swanson, penis, Julie Tolentino, Dynasty Handbag, Erin Markey, and more.

Doors open at 5:30PM, performances begin at 6:00PM. The audience is welcome to come and go as they please. Free and open to the public. The evening will conclude with a reception hosted by a secret guest DJ.

This event is presented as part of the of the New Voices in Live Performance series at Center for Performance Research.
