Booking FAQ

Is CPR open for rentals?
Yes! Please review our Rentals page for details on various rental types, including capacity and information on Covid-19 health and safety.

If you are a new renter or have not booked rehearsal space at CPR since before July 2023, please complete a Rehearsal Renter Intake Form, where you can review and sign a rehearsal agreement, confirm your eligibility for CPR’s rehearsal space subsidy programs, and get us the info we need to get you set up to book space at CPR.

I have an idea for a project, but I’m not sure how to classify it. Should I reach out to CPR?
Absolutely! Please reach out to spacerentals@cprnyc.org with your proposal and any questions.

I emailed CPR and I haven’t heard back yet. Should I call CPR? Should I email again?
Please allow up to 72 hours for a response regarding your request. CPR only accepts requests via email and cannot guarantee that your phone call or voicemail will be answered in a timely manner. Please do not send multiple emails regarding your request. Requests are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Multiple emails may push your request to the back of the queue, rather than the order in which your initial request was sent.

What color is the marley floor in the Large Studio?
The marley floor is currently white.

Rental Hours
CPR is open from 9am-9pm, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Percussive Dance Forms
Percussive dance is a highly rhythmic and musical dance form that relies on precise execution of foot-based dance patterns. Rehearsal renters who work within percussive dance forms may rent the Small Studio (which is a sprung wooden floor without a marley covering) between the hours of 9am-4pm on weekdays and 11am-4pm on weekends.

Payment
CPR accepts payment via Zelle or by check. Payment instructions are always included in your rental confirmation email and your invoice.

Cancellation Policy
CPR will grant a full refund for rehearsal rental cancellations made more than 14 days from the rental date. Other rentals such as classes, performances, and film production have varying cancellation timelines which will be detailed in the rental contract. Aside from a government-mandated closure of CPR’s space, cancellation timelines will not be altered if something arises related to Covid-19. Anyone who tests positive for Covid-19 will not be allowed on the premises, until the CDC-designated isolation period has ended. You can view CPR’s current Covid-19 policies on our Rentals page.

Subsidized Rehearsal Space
CPR’s rehearsal rates are already subsidized for artists and small dance and performance companies with annual operating budgets under $100k. CPR offers additional subsidies for New York-based performing artists with support from the New York State Council on the Arts, and for dance and movement based artists with support from Dance/NYC's Rehearsal Space Subsidy Program made possible by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Artists who qualify may book up to 25 hours at the “subsidized rate” for each of two periods during the year, from January through June and July through December, for a total to 50 additionally subsidized hours each year.

Live and Recorded Music
CPR welcomes sound and music collaborators, and their instruments, with prior notice. CPR is situated within a residential building, and may not be able to accommodate certain percussive instruments or low bass electronic sounds at certain times. We will do everything we can to accommodate your needs.

Shoes
Shoes are not permitted on the marley floor in the Large Studio. Any scuffs or damage are the responsibility of the renter to clean or repair; please reach out immediately to spacerentals@cprnyc.org if any damage occurs. If shoes are required for your work, please reach out to us. If CPR’s calendar and organizational capacity allows, the marley in the Large Studio can be removed for an additional fee (min $750). Tap shoes, high heels, and sneakers are allowed in the Small Studio.
