Water Sentient
is a sound and visual experience inspired by water. The daydream of the performance came through after inquisitive research on Dr. Masaru Emoto’s study of water molecule experiments. Water Sentient explores how human thoughts and intentions can alter physical reality, and takes inspiration from spiritual and metaphysical practices where water has been a tool of utmost importance. The work is about believing that water can ignite a prayer, and that music is the highest form of frequency that allows us to connect to the vibration of the universe.

With the support of a City Artist Corps Grant, Stephanie “Cherry” Ayala has been able to expand upon this vision which she has been working towards with musician and composer Samantha Feliciano, who composes music alongside Mathew Jamal. Water Sentient also features Jinah Parker who has created an opening sound bath, and visuals from cinematographer Amanda Morell.

This program is supported by a City Artist Corps Grant from the New York Foundation for the Arts and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, with support from the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment and Queens Theatre.
