Production and Facilities Manager
Status: Part time, permanent
Schedule: 24-30 hours per week, flexible
Salary: $28-$30 per hour, commensurate with experience
Reports to: Executive Director
Position Summary
The Production and Facilities Manager works closely with CPR's Executive Director, Programs Manager, Rentals Manager, and community of artists and presenting partners to plan, design, and implement technical production for CPR’s programs, including CPR’s curated public programs, artistic residencies, and Subsidized Space Rental Program. The Production and Facilities Manager works creatively and generatively with artists to further their creative processes, providing resources, support, and guidance to help manifest their ideas. The position also supports and maintains the safe and effective use of CPR’s facility, and is a “steward of the space.”
Schedule
The position may work up to 30 hour per week, with a flexible schedule to support other creative or professional commitments, and around CPR’s ebb and flow of programming. The position has priority over additional hours connected with CPR’s rental programs, as desired. A hybrid remote/in-person schedule is available, with required on-site work to support artists, programs, and facility maintenance. The position will be assigned a MacBook Pro laptop, and may be reimbursed for a monthly Metrocard.
Supervision
The Production and Facilities Manager reports to CPR’s Executive Director, works closely and independently with artists on-site, and hires and supervises additional contract technical production staff to support programs, as needed. The Production and Facilities Manager may also be the on-site liaison for vendors for facility maintenance.
Application and Hiring Timeline
Applications will be reviewed as they are received, with initial interviews scheduled during the weeks of July 25 and August 8, 2022. The position will remain open until filled and may start on or before September 6, 2022.
Responsibilities
Plans, designs, and implements technical production for CPR’s curated public programs, working in close collaboration with CPR’s Executive Director, Programs Manager, artists, and guest curators.
Advances technical production for performances, film projects, workshops, classes, and other events in connection with CPR’s Subsidized Space Rental Program.
Advises CPR’s Technical Residency program, and works closely with artists on site to help them accomplish their work.
Hires and supervises contract Production Coordinators to support CPR’s curated public programs and Subsidized Space Rental Program, as needed.
Maintains CPR’s robust inventory of a/v and production equipment.
Working closely with the Executive Director, advises and implements systems, guidelines, and protocols for the safe and effective use of CPR’s facility, including Covid-19 health and safety.
Schedules facility cleaning, maintenance, and repairs, and maintains inventory of cleaning and office supplies and equipment.
Regularly visits CPR to check on the space, water plants, collect trash, and perform small maintenance tasks.
Attends weekly CPR Staff Meetings, and schedules production meetings and site visits, as necessary, with CPR program staff, artists, curators, and event participants.
Qualifications
Bachelors’ degree with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in technical production for the performing arts, or equivalent experience.
Skilled, hands-on experience with technical production for live performance, with a superior knowledge of lighting design, programming, and electrics desired, in addition to sound, projection, rigging, and other areas of technical production.
Experience and familiarity with live performance practices, across multiple disciplines, with a focus on contemporary, experimental dance and performance desired.
Knowledge of general facilities management, operations, and maintenance.
Demonstrated strength in managing time, completing tasks, and being proactive, patient, and accountable in a dynamic, collaborative setting.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Gmail, Google Docs, and other standard office procedures and programs.
CPR requires all staff, artists, and visitors to be fully-vaccinated against Covid-19, with a vaccine booster once eligible.
