felt felt felt felt (2026) is an evening-length collection for saxophone quartet by Brooklyn-based composer Max Vinetz created in collaboration with Aruna Quartet. In five sections Vinetz deconstructs the fundamental techniques of sound production and reintegrates them into narrative forms, forming a new syntax for saxophone quartet. The sonic and thematic landscape spans from intimate songbook to an unrelenting cascade of tones.

This is the NYC Premiere of felt felt felt felt.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Aruna Quartet
“Aruna” translates literally to “red, ruddy, tawny”– a succinct descriptor of the dust storms and sprawling, flatland sunsets that visually define the quartet’s West Texas origins. The Quartet has been awarded prizes at numerous national and international competitions including the Gold Medal and Grand Prize at the 46th Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. The group is now based in Central Texas where it cultivates curiosity in audiences with interesting pairings of classical, contemporary and folk music.

Max Vinetz With music described as “accomplished and appealing” (San Diego Story) and “shimmering…euphoric” (Chicago Classical Review), Max Vinetz is an award-winning composer whose music thrives at the intersection of improvisatory, popular, and traditional classical forms, exploring how these convergences shape and reflect identity transformation over time. His work often focuses on the perception of rhythmic and timbral events, weaving intricate relationships between narrative, musical objects, and sonic artifacts across various media.
