PLAYTIME <3 is a night of 3 musical performances incorporating movement, video art, and theater. The concert features three sets:

PixelTongue, a multimedia performance duo by Charlotte Mundy and Christian Quinones that uses early internet visuals, physical gestures, and text to probe the boundaries between physical reality and the digital beyond.

Tyler Eschendal, a multidisciplinary artist and percussionist whose work features an intricate architecture of speech and physical movement.

Sawyer Adler, whose previous work, Sunset Scrolls, an opera for TikTok, blends internet culture and musical performance.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

PixelTongue is an electronic music duo that lies between the hyper-digital, the interactive, and the theatrical. Pushing the boundaries of multimedia and immersiveness, the ensemble performs and composes their own music with instruments that go from game controllers to paper maché shakers to gesture recognition software.

Coming from a background of traditional acoustic music-making, Pixeltongue was co-founded by composer Christian Quinones and vocalist-composer Charlotte Mundy as a way to utilize electronics to weave together the sensibilities of both practices. They harness bold sounds from electronics to expand and recontextualize everyday electronic objects into exciting new sounds, visuals, and sensations.

Recent projects such as Following/Flocking, a collaborative piece for solo soprano, live visuals, and electronics, explore the intersection between human error and technology. Other recent highlights include their performance of Remy Siu’s  ‘New Notations for two players’, a piece that explores free improvisation within a digital interactive environment, and ‘My Voice is a Broken Chorus’. A piece for solo soprano and electronics, where the performer interfaces with a sampled version of their voice through intricate musical textures.

Tyler Eschendal (he/him) is a composer, percussionist, and videographer based in Princeton, NJ. Speech, stuttering, and (dis)fluency are topics at the core of his work, which is often explored through short film and live theater.

As a composer, Tyler's music has been performed at institutions across the U.S. and abroad, showcased at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention, American Composers Orchestra, Andriessen Festival, Young Composers Meeting (NL), Blackbird Creative Lab, and Norfolk Chamber Music Festival.  He has worked with such ensembles as Sō Percussion, ymusic, Shattered Glass, Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra, orkest de ereprijs, and the Los Angeles Percussion Quartet.

As a multidisciplinary artist, Tyler has held residencies at MacDowell, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Loghaven Artist Residency. His music and media has been showcased by The Stuttering Foundation, Experimental Film Forum, Eyrie Festival, and Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, among others.

Upcoming projects include a new collaboration with Sō Percussion, new work for Alarm Will Sound supported by their Matthew Marks Impact Fund, and a new solo music-theater work premiering November 2026.

Tyler holds degrees in music composition from the University of Cincinnati (B.M.) and the University of Southern California (M.M.).

He is currently a PhD candidate in Composition at Princeton University.
